New Chair Appointed for FACTS

Geoff Dodgson has been appointed chairman of FACTS, the organisation that sets and maintains standards for those who advise farmers and growers on the use of crop nutrients.
Mr Dodgson is a senior consultant for the specialist agricultural and foodchain communications agency Chamberlain (part of Cambridge-based Ware Anthony Rust). He has spent over 30 years in the agricultural, agribusiness and food sectors and advises a range of leading companies on communication strategies and reputation management.
“It is an exciting time to lead FACTS,” says Mr Dodgson. “The importance of professional advice is increasingly important as farmers face up to the challenges of producing food to meet a growing population while addressing the challenges of protecting the environment and climate change.
“FACTS has some 2,500 FACTS Qualified Advisers who are at the forefront of delivering sound advice to farmers. FACTS has recently rebranded and begun a communications campaign to highlight the importance of the FQA status to farmers, policy makers and other stakeholders along the foodchain.”
FACTS is responsible for setting training syllabuses, overseeing training, monitoring continuing professional development and maintaining the register of FQAs. In addition, FACTS operates an information service for FQAs providing them with regular updates on techniques and regulations, together with telephone and email on-demand support.
