Pests

The STC site has a long history of pest research and applied entomology projects.
Our pest research covers the following key areas:

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programmes for protected edible and ornamental crops
Developing and integrating methods to reduce crop pests using a range of tools, including biological control agents, conventional insecticides, microbials, biopesticides, trap planting and food provision for beneficial insects.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programmes for field crops
Developing conservation biocontrol systems to provide natural enemies and reduce pests in field crops. These IPM programmes for field crops examine the potential of classic biocontrol, semiochemicals and trap planting within agricultural environment.

Efficacy trials for commercial contractors
Screening products to reduce and control pests in field and protected crops.
